One common question we get is whether you need to notify your old provider when you switch to us.
The answer is usually no, but there are a few exceptions.
We Handle Most Notifications for You
In most cases, we can inform your current provider that you’re switching to V4 Consumer, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
However, there are certain scenarios where you’ll need to take action yourself.
When You Need to Contact Your Current Provider
There are specific situations where you’ll need to reach out to your existing broadband provider:
1. Switching from Virgin Media:
If you’re currently with Virgin Media, you’ll need to notify them directly that you’re leaving.
Virgin Media does not use the Openreach network, which is why manual notification is required.
2. Non-Openreach Full Fibre Providers:
If you have a Full Fibre (FTTP) service with a provider that doesn’t use the Openreach network, such as City Fibre or Hyperoptic, you’ll need to contact them to cancel your service.
Avoiding Service Interruptions
To ensure a seamless switch, we recommend waiting until your V4 Consumer broadband is live before cancelling your old service.
This helps reduce the risk of being without internet during the transition period.
No one wants to be caught in the limbo of having no broadband, especially in today’s connected world.
Final Thoughts
Switching to V4 Consumer is designed to be as smooth and effortless as possible.
